Panasonic PT-AE2000E
About to buy a new projector? Stop: read this first!
Panasonic’s PT-AE2000E is so good, you’ve got to try it before you buy anything else.
Although outwardly it resembles the older PT-AE1000E (formerly a favourite of this parish), this model is a significantly improved projector in many regards.
As before, it’s a 1920 x 1080 LCD design, but the ’AE2000E is brighter, has an improved claimed contrast ratio, and boasts tweaks to its lens and image processing designed to sharpen up its image quality.
All this comes in the same hugely sensible chassis found in the older projector – large enough to help cut fan noise to a minimum, stable enough to ensure easy installation, and endowed with manual lens adjustments to make matching your projected image to your screen the work of mere moments.
Image quality is simply stunning
Even with unscaled DVD or off-air TV, colours, black levels and motion-handling are superb: feed it high-def, and (best of all) Blu-ray, and it’s simply fabulous. The depth of the picture, the richness of its hues (especially after some tweaking) and the sheer vitality of the image take the breath away, especially at the price.
There’s really nothing to moan about here. The set-up options are as simple or as complex as you need, and it’s even well-equipped, with three HDMI inputs and support for 24fps 1080p.
Like we said, it’s so good, you’ve got to try it…
