I purchased a Velodyne SPL-800R almost 12 months ago, the only difference I can see between the i and the R is the remote control and the auto-setting microphone.
What can I say about this that hasn't probably already been said, it's fantastic. Subtle when needed and house shaking when really needed. Best of all, it's wife friendly as its size allows it to be concealed quite nicely in the corner of the room.
The timing of the sub is fantastic with music and stellar with movies. Just try listening to Star Wars with this on and you expect a spaceship to land inside your lounge, it really is that loud.
Any downsides? Only the finish of the unit is easily marked high-gloss piano black spoils it for me, finger prints are easily seen, but that's it.
Fantastic sub, easily the best I listened to and well worth the money.
