Saw this a little while ago. Absolutely beyond comprehension. Looks nice though, what a shame from the director who brought us "Pi".

Re: Aronofsky's 'The Fountain'

A quick look on Wikipedia makes it sound so simple. It's the whole tree / bubble / star / girl thing at the end that is spectacularly weird. I just see it as eye candy rather than a plausible plot.

If you treat it as a surreal thing of beauty, it almost works...

But I think you have to be in the right mood for it. I'd certainly have been both bewildered and annoyed with its pretention if i'd been after some entertainment. Or narrative. Or plot....

Is that the one where the "sh" on the end is silent?

Barry Norman's protege wasn't a fan?

That doesn't seem to tie in well with your glowing review of "The Matrix"?

I'd have thought your eye for detail would have had a love affair with "Pish".

I don't remember doing a glowing review of The Matrix. Though I did like the coats.

Re: Pi - it was the details that involved power tools that I had most of an issue with, tbh.

Mmmm, yeh, but it has to reach that conclusion (though perhaps without the drill) to mark the end of the nautilus. I thought it clever.

Indeed.

I don't know what it says about me, that I thoroughly enjoyed 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' the night before, more than 'The Fountain'.

I guess I'm not as smart as I like to think I am. That, or I was just swayed by the utterly gorgeous Mila Kunis.
