I used to have 1 HDD partitioned with xp on one half and vista the other. Now have a single HDD and have installed Vista on a RAID 0 pair, deleted the Vista partition to give XP all the single HDD. Botting up, computer thinks there are 2 instances of Vista, obviously, 1 doesn't work cos it aint there.

How can I right this?

Also, XP currently cant see my RAID 0 pair. Drivers needed or something? Any help VERY appreciated.

I assume you mean you now have a Raid pair containing a copy of vista and the old disc with a copy of XP on it.?

When you say deleted the partition did you uninstall vista first?

What you should have done is uninstalled vista to make XP the only operating system.

Removed the boot manager so the PC automatically booted into XP by default.

Removed the Vista partition or merged it with the XP one.

Done a disc clean up.

 Now install the Raid pair and install Vista on the pair as desired.

Re-instate the boot manager.

 

XP does not have native support for raid. but you can buy third party apps that will make it happen. The MS knowledge base also has some useful stuff.

if i were to format and reinstall xp on the old drive, would that solve?

In the run box type "msconfig".

In the box that appears click the "BOOT.INI" tab.

You should get an option to check all boot paths.
If you click this it should find the invalid Vista boot entry and give you the option to remove it.
Before using "msconfig" make sure you have a system restore point set and anything impotant is backed up as careless use of "msconfig" can cause serious problems.

For the XP Raid problem there should be drivers on the motherboard CD.
