Hi all,

I just purchased a Sony 40W4500 TV and have connected my Virgin (SD) box to it via scart.

On some channels such as E4 the aspect ratio is changing from widescreen to 4:3 automatically when a program starts. It also seems to forget to remain in widescreen when I switch it off, so when it gets turned back on it is again in 4:3.

Its only been a day and I'm already infuriated!

Anyone encountered this problem before and do you have any solutions?

It's because your TV is set to auto detect aspect. Unfortunatly this is not 100% foolproof.

You could try setting the telly to a fixed aspect ratio but then you end up having to change it if watching 4:3 stuff.

Ahhhhh I found it and have turned off auto-detection, the sony remote comes with a pretty handy shortcut to change the aspect ratio so i'll stick with the manual option.
