New Interconnect

Afternoon HiFi enthusiasts,

I need a new analogue interconnect to go between an Cambridge Audio 540A V2 amplifier and CA DacMagic (which is on order =D).

Looking to spend in the region of £30-£50. Any suggestions/recommendations will be taken with a big fat smile.

I think he needs analogue interconnects between these two. Chord Crimson will do the trick.
CA 840A; Sony BDP S550; CA DacMagic; MA RS6AV with Radius R90s; Sony KDL40W2000; Sony STR-DA3400ES; Sky HD; Linksys DMA 2100; Chord Chameleon Silver Plus RCA; Chord Chorus 2 XLR; Chord Odyssey 4 cable; QED SR hdmi and Clearer Audio Silver Line Coaxial.

Re: New Interconnect

Thanks for your replies, yeah sorry I should have been more specific - it is an analogue interconnect I'm looking for. Found the Chord Crimson for £32 from www.futureshop.co.uk. Seems like a reasonable price?!

Re: New Interconnect

I misread, apologies.I have the 540v2 cd player into a dacmagic using this digital coax and then into a c.a 840v1 using atlas equator 2 phono interconnects and was a bit keen to recommend.

Re: New Interconnect

I'm also finding it really hard to find a mini toslink to toslink cable for a DACMagic, well, the real problem is the required length of 2m. Would buying a 2 metre standard optical cable (around £30) and then a separate adapter give as good sound sound quality or am I risking losing some?

The adapter's fine - 3 or 4 quid from Maplin.

Re: New Interconnect

I think I may give that one a miss although I've heard contrasting views... I'd rather spend the extra ten or so quid and go for a renowned good VFM cable !!

Thanks anyway :P

Re: New Interconnect

I was really happy with an Ecosse Conductor cable, which is about £50 for 0.5m. I can heartily recommend it Smile

It's been replaced with an Atlas cable which I'm very happy with too, so maybe their £50-ish Equator model, which WH-F seem to like too, would be worth considering?

Re: New Interconnect

Chord Company Crimson. Outstanding cable for the money.
Audiophile?? NO! I'm a MUSICPHILE who happens to require the highest possible sound quality from my hi-fi.

Its ALL about the music.

Re: New Interconnect

I really don't have time to audition cables so I have to ask everyone's advice (which has been brill to say the least), do you think the Chord Crimson would be a better interconnect then the Atlas Equator MKII?! For an optical I'm looking at the Chord Optichord 3m with mini jack on one end, does anyone own this cable or had experience with it? All views greatly welcomed =D

Thanks matthewpiano and bigblue

Re: New Interconnect

I had a 1m Chord optichord which I used to use between my RDR-HXD910 and DAV-S550. Worked fine, sound was better than just playing DVDs in the S550.

I still have it in a bag somewhere as it's all HDMIs these days. Shame it's not any longer, I could have sold you a bargain.

Re: New Interconnect

Thanks Big Chris but as you said, the cable wouldn't reach from my mac to the DACMagic unfortunately... Thanks anyway I will get the Chord optical and just trying to decide on the analogue interconnect...

Re: New Interconnect

I've made my mind up on the Chord Optichord from DACMagic --> AirPort Express, just torn between the Chord Crimson, the Chord Cobra 3 OR Merlin Chopa Classic from DACMagic --> CA amp.

Someone make up my mind =D!

Gonna' be highly unsociable this Christmas!
