Opinions on Harman Kardon CD players

Does anybody have any exerience of HK players?

HK kit is (was?) always rumoured to be pretty good. Is this still the case?

My son is after a CD player and has seen these two models HD-970 / HD-755

How do they rate?

Thanks,

Tony.

Re: Opinions on Harman Kardon CD players

I used to use a HD970 with a Rotel RA-01 amp. One of the better players I've owned sound wise but felt a bit like using a cheap DVD player. In the end I just found it a little bit clinical. You can do better with something like a Cambridge Audio 540C or 640C in my opinion.
Audiophile?? NO! I'm a MUSICPHILE who happens to require the highest possible sound quality from my hi-fi.

Its ALL about the music.

One of those marques that gained big name recognition by "selling out." I listened to a surround reciever in Best buy, not impressed. No wonder yamaha doesn't let bb sell their real good lines.
