Never had a thread that got past a page so in line with other long threads- what favourite vinyl album have you got where you have listened to one track so often in the early days , it now just clicks permanently .

Mine is Bob Seger, Stranger in Town- track- We've got tonight.

LOL...I'm writing up the list at the moment! I'll put it on! However, I've given up with vinyl now...it's too much trouble. I don't have a problem with scratches, more warps. If I accidently leave a record on and the sun comes out, it shines on my turntable and the perspex lid causes it to get really hot and I end up with a record that causes woofer excursion and wow & flutter comparable to a 50s reel to reel!

LOL...I'm writing up the list at the moment! I'll put it on! However, I've given up with vinyl now...it's too much trouble.

NO!!!!! I nearly gave up on vinyl recently but selling my Michell TecnoDec and going back to a classic Thorens TD150 has got me completely hooked again. With the right turntable, set up properly vinyl is pretty much impossible to beat. There is so much cheap music out there as well!!

Due to twins and the appliance of common sense for once in my life, the P3 has been put on top of the wardrobe whilst the hifi rack has been moved upstairs. The amp and CD player are now on top of a (slightly higher) sideboard. Couldn't risk the twins getting their hands where they shouldn't be!

Vinyl is a real winner however you slice it; look after it well (I don't mean going to inordinate lengths either) and it repays year in year out. My P3 and cartridge cost about £400 in 2001. It's now 2009 almost and the only thing I've changed about it is changing the cart, so call it £470 all in. We're talking pennies a day.

The album that ended up with a click was probably one of my earlier ones - ELO's Out of the Blue being one, Jeff Wayne's WOTW another. More recently, the Cocteau Twins "Foeztpolitik" of Heavenor Las Vegas is another - sublime track though!

And we'll get you over that page yet....!

Hughes you'll be back. I did the same thing in the heddy days of Napster. If good sound is worth having it's worth having, otherwise you may as well shift your arcam and get a sony mini-system for 29 pounds.

Oh and mine would be the GD's American Beauty.

Too many to really single out [sorry for the lousey pun]. I am fortunate that most of my vinyl is in good condition - actually, one does spring to mind (just as I'm typing this), and well beyond repair. It's the Beach Boys Greatest Hits which I inherited from my older brother many moons ago.

Another tip: never store your vinyl horizonally, they tend to warp easily.

And buy a Disco Antistat or, even better, a proper record cleaning machine to maintain your vinyl. Pays off in the long run.

Agreed. I use my Antistat when I get a new secondhand record and then tend to leave it after that. I generally find that once they've been done they are unlikely to need the full works again (or at least for a very long time).
