Audio Merchants - Howard Street, Glasgow

One of the few dealers I've been in of late where I haven't ended up buying or borrowing something, but they're worth an honourable mention nevertheless. I'd really come by their site on the off chance last week and dropped by today as it's near to where my current project is based in Glasgow.

Anyway, so much for having a quick look round, got to chatting to Ian and before long there was a quick tour of the demo rooms, must've spent a good half hour easy, just talking shop pretty much. Really nice guy, great shop and a superb selection and range of gear (make a point of visiting if you're ever in town). Some good used stuff too by the bye. Well recommended!

Didn't even know that place existed!

Has it been there long? I go to an optician on Howard St. and I've never noticed it.

I'm in Glasgow later this week, will check it out, thanks for the tip!

Not sure how long they've been there, but it's round the back of the St. Enoch shopping centre; just follow the road around from the main road and you're there.

Looked pretty good though.

I know Howard St. well, I used to work in the God-forsaken hole that is the St. Enoch centre Smile I used to get clothes from Slaters too, before I grew up Smile

I'll pop in soon.

Great store but so few people know it's there! Down where Slaters menswear is, think that's how I stumbled upon it a couple of years ago.

Really friendly guy in there (think he wis the main yun), bought my Pro-Ject Debut III from them for a good price a couple of years back. Always helpful and willing to talk to you about what you're looking for, which makes intimidating "real hi-fi" shops for a regular Richer Sounds shopper alot less, well, intimidating! They don't laugh when you tell them your budget doesn't extend to the highest price items in the store!!!

Also saw and heard the Tannoy TD12 floorstanders and fell in love... lottery win = TD12's!

Popped in the other day when I was through and left with some Audioquest Copperhead interconnects. Had mentioned my difficulties with my CD player and partnering it with the right gear and after asking the right questions, we came down to getting rid of the Nordost I had been using and replacing with the AQ. Knocked a few quid off the cable as it had been out the box and I'm happy to say he was right; very highly recommended (again!).
