Golly, don't these threads go all Daily Express...

I hope you are not referring to me,Monsieur Everard. I cannot read.

Why stop at cinemas?Devil

If there was a buggy-free coffee-house chain it would get my business.

There's even ankle-biters in the pubs now - wrong, wrong, wrong (on so many levels).

Sorry, rant over Super Angry

dont get started on coffee houses and the buggy issue!!

lost track of the number of times i have not been able to get a seat or table during my lunch time because you have 3 or 4 mums with a kid each ... but with all the shopping bags and huge buggies they have taken up half the flippin coffee shop....whats that all about....9 times out of ten the kids are screaming and they are too busy talking about the next bmw they want or what they have been up to with their massuse (i kid you not i have been subjected to this)....

Obviously all these people who hate buggies don't have kiddies. You should try and push a buggy around when there are all these buggy haters about. It's a nightmare. Letting your kids scream is payback. I must admit though I hate taking the buggy out on shopping trips, so use a papoose. Great both hands free and laddo is raised up so he can see around.

Re: over 18s only screenings

Unforunately, a lot of women seem to treat pushing a buggy like the chariot race from 'Ben Hur'.

I don't think it'll be long before there's a 'Mama's & Papa's/Silver Cross/ etc (delete as appropriate) 'wheel blades' optional extra.

Re: over 18s only screenings

We have all had kids. Back then it was so usual we did not feel the world had to applaud us for it.

Clare hasn't. When did you do your survey?

Having had kids, I can see how buggys can be annoying but I would never get annoyed with them.

[Clare hasn't.

I certainly haven't - but my husband's had three (all now grown), and he's even more intolerant than I of people who insist on making their (often ill-behaved, noisy, messy) progeny the centre of EVERYONE'S universe, not just their own. Some respite - like these over-18s screenings - is surely OK?

Re: over 18s only screenings

I've got a buggy and really get annoyed by both using them and other users.

The idea of blades on wheels does sound good though. Even better a horizontal blade mounted on the front of a 3 wheeler buggy that would cut the achilles tendon. Then there would another reason to ram people from behind.

But back to the thread. I couldn't agree more with the idea of over 18 screenings.

No one has mentioned this but I've just had lunch with a friend who lives in LA (over for a couple of weeks). He went to watch the new Bond film the other day and the cinema had a full drinks licence. He sunk some decent red whilst watching Quantum of Solace!!

Electric Cinema, Portobello road: bar; food; comfy chairs (even some sofas) plus drinks tables with wine chillers. Bliss...

Indeed, and I find that on the whole men seem to be much better at controlling them than women. Men seem to know that pushing a pushchair does not mean you can take the most direct path between two points, mowing down anyone who happens to linger in your path.
