By the way, I'm taking everybodies suggestions on board and I'm compiling a list at the moment! Keep them coming!

Do you have all the Radiohead albums? All Kings of Leon's albums. Maxwell - Urban Hang Suite. Badly Drawn Boy - The Hour Of The Wilderbeast. Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way. Terence Trent D'Arby - Introducing The Hardline According To. Primal Scream - Screamadelica. Stone Roses - Stone Roses. Ian Brown - Music Of The Spheres. All Paul Weller and all Jam albums. The Killers - Hot Fuss and Sams Town. ELO - Out Of The Blue............. I'll stop there.

I've just added all of those to my list! No I havn't heard all of the Radiohead albums - are you ready for this? I've only got OK Computer & I still claim to think of them as my favourite band! I'll add Rainbows to the list.

I think I can probably buy about 50 CDs with that amount of money, so keep 'em coming!

There is an excellent box set of all the Radiohead albums. Only In Rainbows missing from it. I've got the boxed set - not a weak album there. Also got In Rainbows on vinyl. Very good album.
Audiophile?? NO! I'm a MUSICPHILE who happens to require the highest possible sound quality from my hi-fi.

Its ALL about the music.

Re: Tell Me What CD To Buy!

Hi Hughes, just a few I thought you might like though some are pretty hard to find.

Thom Yorke - The Eraser (you've mentioned Radiohead so you'll love this too)

Slint - Spiderland (Can be hard to find but you won't be disappointed)

Low - Trust (Try anything by Low, pretty diverse across the board)

Azure Ray - Azure Ray (bitter sweet, beautiful voice)

Ludovico Einaudi - I Giorni ( lovely solo piano)

Max Richter - The Blue Notebooks / Memoryhouse (Classical with a whiff of WW2 and Kafka / Beautiful)

Stateless - Stateless (Fairly similar to Radiohead, DJ Shadow raves about it)

Port Royal  - Flares (underwater tingly)

Eluvium - An Accidental memory in the case of death (grandiose downbeat music)

Fink - Distance and Time (superb acoustic pieces)

Aereogramme - My heart has a wish that you would not go (scottish heart rendering stuff)

Halves - Haunt me when I'm drowsy (only just got this, similar to Sigur Ros, really good)

Mercury Rev - Alll is dream (oldy but goody)

Galaxie 500 - On Fire (Pearl jam era but more mellow)

Archive - Lights (Indie trippy hoppy deep stuff)

Re: Tell Me What CD To Buy!

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac springs to mind. Classic album in every sense of the word.

Dire Straits have made few good good albums - Love over Gold for instance.

Second recommendation for Kate Bush. Brilliant. Hounds of Love, Never Forever, etc

Second for Peter Gabriel - So

Paul Weller - has he made a bad album?

Led Zep I, II, II, IV

Get some Linton Kwesi Johnson - Dread, Beat and blood. Rastifarian(spelling?) poet to dub.

Lynard Skynard - (Pronounced 'Leh-'Nérd 'Skin-'Nérd)

I also like Steve Hillage (from Gong) - fish rising

The The - every albums a winner. I particularly like Infected.

Has anyone mentioned Jimmy Hendrix. Electric Ladyland gets my vote.

Ohhh, I could go on..

No, Weller has not made one dud. Good call on Lynyrd Skynyrd (they spell it with no vowels though - my Dad is their number one fan) - Free Bird - what a track.

Hughesy, you are missing out on Radiohead - although I would say Ok Computer sneaks in above The Bends and In Rainbows as their best. But then again, I loved Pablo Honey and Hail To The Thief too.....oh they are all great!

Re: Tell Me What CD To Buy!

Wow! Thankyou for the replys!

1) To Matthewpiano: Thankyou for the great list, I'm going to add pretty much all of those to the list (whether they make it to the top 50 is unknown yet, but I'm sorting them out!) Good suggestion on Bad Company - almost forgot they existed!

2) Garethwd: My favourite jazz song ever is ofcourse, "Take Five"! Do you have the 1997 remaster version on CD of Time Out (because I'm going to buy that tommorrow to test my new headphones and the 685s)? You have good taste in music, I must say!

3) Matthewpiano again: The Radiohead boxset is a must I think - it's going to the top of the list!

4) Mat and Gareth again: Solid Air is going on there - a good "album" if you know what I mean.

5) Octopo: Some very abstract choices there! Me like! I've only heard of a few...must check them out!

6) PJPro: I've got most of those albums already, but I must try The The!

7) To the court: No I havn't stolen anything...yet...I get my money from the jazz band I'm the singer for and for my work in the music shop!

8) Everybody else: Your suggestions have been noted! I promise!!!

Some crackers on this list

All Is Dream by Mercury Rev is a tremendous album as is The Blue Notebooks by Max Richter. Check out the remix album of The Eraser as there are some brilliant remixes on it

Another good one is got recently is After Summer by Pia Fraus sounds very 90's shoegaze but it's a fairly recent relese and they hail from Estonia so a new one for me

Also I forgot to mention all of the Ulrich Schnauss albums are sublime

"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day. "
