Alsone:

I know of several people who are now finding JL very expensive.

LOL! JL have ALWAYS been expensive! The only thing ive ever seen in JL that has been cheaper than elsewhere was my dyson hover but otherwise ive always stayed clear. The only plus side i guess is they normally give a free 5year warrenty so that makes up for the extra cost...

Rathbone:

Quick update,

My KDL40W4500/4710 was delivered this afternoon, it was taken out of the box and said it was a W4710 so i rang Sony straight away and was told that that was an exclusive number for John Lewis and the tv was in fact a W4500 model which makes me feel a lot better.

The picture is fantastic and i am well pleased, looking forward to this weekends live football.

Thanks for that info, it's good to know. Glad you're liking the telly. I have to say it's exceeded my expectations, which were already pretty high!

Buy the way when you set up your Blu Ray player do you have to get any extra cables or do you just use the one supplied in the box?

Don't use the cables in the box, you have to get an HDMI cable to get the best picture

Yeah thats true from my experience but I personally think they're more expensive than ever now. I mean over £200 more than a small shop in the same area!! On an £800 cooker thats 25% difference!

Also, wasn't so bad in the past when you could get a price match easily as you knew that generally JL service was very good.

Unfortunately, the new policy makes a price match so difficult now in my opinion, it simply isn't even worth trying and in my experience the staff are now awkward and shirty about price matching. So much for the service! I prefer to shop elsewhere now.

Yeah boxed cables are not known for being high quality. They'll do, but as Rathbone says you'll get better performance from a good aftermarket cable. If you have HDMI connections, use HDMI.

It doesn't have to cost a fortune. I saw the Award Winning QED HDMI-P on Amazon.co.uk last night for £21!!!
